Established in the year 1894 as Daftar-e-Diwani, the Archival Museum has an extensive collection of valuable documents of the bygone era. Here, visitors can find records from the period when Aurangabad served as the regional headquarters of the Mughal dynasty. The journals, artefacts and well-preserved records give visitors a detailed insight of the administration of the Mughals in India. More than 5,000 documents from the Shah Jahan period (1626-1658) and another 150,000 from the Aurangzeb rule (1658-1708) are a part of the archives. Around one million documents are kept here, which are indigenous to the state. The socio-economic and political attributes of Asaf Shah dynasty, along with confidential documents belonging to the period of Bhamani, Adil Shahi, East India Company and post-independence are bound to enlighten history lovers.
