Description
Reconstructed in 1772 on the Armenian cemetery, this church has become popular as it houses a stunning bell tower (also known as belfry) that contains 6 bells. With a massive weight of 150 kilograms per bell, the bells are huge in size ranging from 21 to 26 inches. At 9:30 am every Sunday, all six bells are rung together by the caretaker. Initially, people used to come here for praying but now this place is preserved as a heritage site. Managed by the The Armenian Church Committee in Kolkata, almost 350 Armenian (group of merchants in Madras Presidency) graves are laid here.
