Nestled on the banks of River Ganga, the Belur Math forms the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, which was founded by revered monk Swami Vivekananda. A pious symbol of secularism, Belur Math flaunts a flawless amalgamation of Hindu, Islamic and Christian architectural styles. There are four temples within the premises of Belur Math. The main shrine, known as Sri Ramakrishna Temple, propagates the idea of monotheism and promotes secularism. It has been built in a unique style so that it resembles a temple, church and mosque when viewed from different angles. The Belur Math is actively involved in conducting social work throughout the country.
