Description
Cathedral of the Holy Name is a celebrated shrine that is highly regarded by the Christian community in Mumbai. Situated in the prominent commercial centre of Colaba, it stands as a reminder of the colonial era.The Gothic-style cathedral is built using grey stone and features fine exteriors along with equally impressive interiors. Imposing buttresses, towers and spires make the edifice look magnificent while a carved wooden door leads to the beautiful altar that has a life-size statue of Jesus Christ. Stained glass windows, fresco designs, carved embellishments and murals adorn the shrine. Gravestones of notable personalities and archbishops are also present here. Several renovations have been done in order to retain the architectural glory of this old cathedral.
