Description
A picturesque man-made water body- Himayat Sagar Lake vies for attention. Located approximately 20 km from Hyderabad city, this lake was built on Esi (a tributary of the Musi River) during the rule of the last Nizam of Hyderabad. The main objective behind building this reservoir was to provide drinking water and at the same time, save the city from floods. Capable of storing about 3.0 TMC of water, this lake was built under the supervision of engineer Late Khaja Mohinuddin. The construction of this reservoir was completed in the year 1927 and the same was named after Himayat Ali Khan- the youngest son of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, as Himayat Sagar Lake.
