Located strategically on Dharmatala Street, Tipu Sultan Mosque is a renowned place of religious importance. More than 180 years old, this history-rich edifice boasts of impressive Islamic (Mughal) architecture. Unlike many Islamic places of worship, this mosque allows people of all religions and sections of society to enter the premises. Prince Ghulam Mohammed, Tipu Sultan's youngest son built this mosque in the year 1832. The mosque, painted in green, features 16 domes and four towering minarets. The spires over the domes and minarets, arches and the elaborate carvings on the fa ade give the mosque an eye-catching look. It has the capacity of accommodating up to 1000 people at a time.
